First impressions of people are almost always deceiving
I know this is a common and obvious observation, but in my experience, people aren't always what they seem in the beginning. This is especially true when you are in a position of authority and are accountable for the actions of others.
I study at a business school where we are given equal amounts of individual and group responsibilities. As I move into newer leadership and management territories, I am already experiencing some bittersweet moments with my peers.
Some people say one thing and do the exact opposite
Some people are unwilling to take up any responsibility
Some people claim to be super-disciplined but are not
Some people don’t look like it but are super-smart
Some people exceed expectations and their own potential
No matter how hard you try to make everyone ride the same boat as you, you will inevitably fail. People are different, and that's okay. This is something I am observing and learning.
An Awesome Breathing Technique!
The best part about this week is my consistency with breathing exercises. This might have been because I have had more time on my hands this week— but I figured just 10 minutes every day is legit doable.
I practiced the Wim Hof Breathing Technique for the entirety of this week, and as I had promised myself, I was consistent with it.
The best outcome I have noticed is: I'm learning to embrace discomfort and avoid procrastination. I have also noticed a pattern of focus and a sense of acceptance in my day-to-day, which helps a lot.
Will be posting more on this once I get used to it and practice it more consistently.
Until then, have a good week! :)
